Summer Fiber Arts Fest!
Join us this summer for all things fiber!
We will kick off in July, by hosting Stop In & Stitch Thursdays and a Speak & Sew Open Mic Night, where participants are invited to bring their current knit, crochet, or sewing project to work on in the gallery or create a square for our Fiber Finale, a small festival and public yarn bombing in Mill Hill Park!
Throughout the summer we will offer an array of classes, events, workshops, and art demonstrations that focus on fiber and textile arts taught by professional artists! During the month of August we will debut our G2 Gallery with a sprawling fiber art exhibition titled InterWoven. To wrap up our celebration of all things fiber, Trentonians can look forward to a colorful pop up in Mill Hill Park as The Summer Fiber Arts Fest is commemorated with live music, vendors, and a public yarn bombing in the heart of downtown Trenton! The Summer Fiber Arts Fest’s, Fiber Finale will take place on Saturday, September 14th from 11:00am-5:00pm (Rain Date: Saturday, September 21st)

Visible Mending: The Japanese Art of Functional Embroidery -
Thursday, August 15th, 11:30-1:30pm
Instead of throwing away a beloved shirt or a well-worn hand towel, learn how to decoratively fix a hole or a rip by patching it. Boro (translated as “ragged”) is the Japanese tradition of using small stitches (or functional embroidery) to mend clothing and fabric. All levels welcome - previous sewing experience not required. Participants should bring an item of clothing or cloth that has a rip or hole in it that needs repair. All other basic materials are included.
Speak & Sew Open Mic - Friday, July 19th, 6:00-8:30pm.
A classic poetry open mic with a twist! Bring your knit, crochet, or sewing project and work while listening to local poets and performs! Don’t have a project to work on? Create a complementary square to add to our public yarn bombing in Mill Hill Park.
All Ages Welcome!

Come out to lend a hand for a public yarn bombing in Mill Hill Park with live music, food and craft vendors! Using the squares, patches and other fiber works created during our summer programming, participants can sew and stitch their work around trees to create a vibrant fiber pop up installation in Mill Hill park. Individual artists and groups can also register in advance to reserve a tree for a solo or collaborative fiber installation.
Coordinated by curators Christy O’Connor and Aine Mickey.
